Do you want to feel confident and know what to expect like upperclassmen do when they participate on Mitty sports teams? This enrichment course is a HANDS ON introduction to playing on Archbishop Mitty sports teams. Student-athletes are exposed to simulations of how a school day works when you have practice or what happens when your team leaves early for a game. Know the day to day logistics involved in communicating with your coaches and teachers, and the expectations of completing school work. In addition, students will participate in “on the field/court” simulations of mini workouts run by some of our Mitty coaches to familiarize students with common practices, our facilities and athletic resources like the training room and weight room. Each day will be broken up into a classroom component of mini lectures and “real Mitty athlete scenarios” presented by current 10th grade Mitty athletes. Students will then discuss and actively solve these “scenarios” outside the classroom in small groups. Finally, relevant to content areas, the course provides “how to” instructions on Magnus Health, Intent to Tryout, and effectively using the Mitty google calendar, school website and Canvas for the athletic programs you are interested in participating.
