The men’s basketball program has won an impressive 16 WCAL, 13 CCS, six NorCal, and two CIF state championships during the school’s history. Monarch Aaron Gordon ’13, of the Denver Nuggets, highlights a long line of star players who have succeeded at the professional level. The program offers varsity, junior varsity, and freshman A and B teams.
Head Coach: Tim Kennedy
Coach Kennedy has more than 18 years of coaching experience. For the past 16 years, he has coached the Monarchs, leading the men’s basketball program to nine WCAL championships, eight CCS championships, four NorCal championships, and two state championships. While in high school, he was a four-year varsity starter and the first WCAL player to be named Player of the Year in consecutive seasons. Coach Kennedy earned a scholarship to Loyola Marymount University. After college, he spent six years playing basketball overseas for European professional basketball leagues and the Irish National Team. Coach Kennedy was named the CCS Honor Coach for the 2023-24 season.
