2016-2017 Financial Aid Applications are
DUE FEBRUARY 3, 2016!School Spirit

The Financial Aid Application for the 2016-2017 school year is now available on mitty.com and must be submitted with the required documents by February 3, 2016.

All families requesting financial aid will be directed to the school's website to create an account with PSAS, the outside service the Diocese of San Jose retains to collect and evaluate levels of financial need. If you are new to the program, you will be asked to provide an email address and a password. For families that filed for financial aid last year, you can access your account as a returning applicant by using your login information. Once you have created an account, you can login when convenient; fill out the application, update, change and save information; track your progress; and communicate directly with helpful and knowledgeable staff members at PSAS. For returning applicants, your previous information has been saved for easy reference. The application is easy to navigate, the instructions are clear, it's available in English and Spanish, and only one application per family is required. This process has been mainstreamed to provide a faster, simpler, friendlier service to our families.

Counseling

New! Parent Resources Now Available on AMHS Counseling Website
The counseling department is happy to announce our new Parent Resource page available at http://www.mitty.com/counseling/parent-resources. This page has links to books, websites, and articles related to a wide variety of topics which include anxiety, behavior issues, depression, learning differences, mental and developmental health, parenting, social-cognition, friendship, and sleep. While these are helpful resources, we encourage parents and students alike to contact counselors with any concerns.

Freshmen
Starting this week, your counselor will be scheduling one-on-one meetings with all students. If you do not have an appointment by the end of the week or if you wish to meet earlier, please contact your counselor directly. You can also schedule appointments in the Counseling Office or email Mrs. Nina Duquette.

Seniors
Now that applications are winding down, please note the following:
• Mid-Year Reports (7th semester grades) will be sent to your Common App colleges on or before January 29th. UCs and CSUs do NOT require mid-year reports.
• CSUs and UCs communicate strictly through email. You should check your email regularly and complete any outstanding to-do items. Please also create your CSU Portal to check your application status for individual campuses.
• As you hear back from colleges, update your application status on Family Connection and notify your counselor.

Corporate Internship Program

The 2016 summer Corporate Internship Committee is now accepting applications from eligible sophomores and juniors. Please login here and select Corporate Internship under Quick Links for more information. Applications are due in the Main Office by February 10, 2016.

The internship committee would like to clarify the following:
- Sophomores and juniors applying to the 2016 Corporate Internship Program must be 16 years of age by June 1, 2016 in order to participate, not 15 years of age as previously announced in the weekly email. We apologize for the error.
- Summer Immersion Trips - Students traveling on the ECJ-India immersion trip who are 16 years of age by June 1st may participate in the resume writing workshops and interview skills workshop but due to the timing of the immersion trip will not be eligible for an actual summer internship. If selected for an internship, students traveling on the ECJ - South Africa or Appalachia immersion trips must be ready to begin work no later than June 20, 2016, and have no other summer commitments through the end of July.

For more information on the program, please refer to the Corporate Internship link on Mitty's website or contact Mrs. Prescott in the Main Office at mprescott@mitty.com.

Athletics ReportSchool Spirit

A Pair of Vital Wins for Women's Soccer
The women's varsity soccer team registered two important results this past week. The Monarchs traveled to Valley Christian on Wednesday to take on a previously undefeated Warrior squad perched atop the WCAL standings. In a typically tight WCAL contest, it was junior Amaya Zabalza who broke the deadlock, slotting home sophomore Chloe Cacoyannis' perfect through ball in the 28th minute for what proved to be the eventual match winner. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Lima and her teammates put in an excellent performance to secure the 1-0 win.

Three days later, the team welcomed Notre Dame-Belmont to Fr. Russi Field. The tone for the contest was set early as sophomore Sophia Mendoza took a pass from the opening kickoff and dribbled past several Tiger players before lashing the opening goal into the net after only 14 seconds! The Monarchs went on to score three goals in each half to post an emphatic 6-0 victory, with sophomore Hailey Smith notching a pair of her own to go along with solo efforts from junior Cristina Munne and seniors Lauren Gengarella and Shannon O'Hara.

The pair of results pushed the team up to second in the WCAL table, two points off the top. The Monarchs face another two-match week, with a Wednesday night trip to St. Francis (6:00 p.m.) ahead of a Saturday morning home fixture against Sacred Heart Cathedral (10:00 a.m.).

Women's Wrestling Update
Our Monarch women's wrestlers made a trip to the 18th Annual True Wrestler Napa Valley Girls Classic and accorded themselves well amongst a very talented field. Freshman Tressa Stearns placed third in her pool. Sophomores Liane Reyes and Brinley Bowes placed second and first respectively in their pools, and junior Isabel Hernandez reached the round of 16. Congratulations to the entire squad for an excellent showing!
